Take a closer look at a powerful force of nature with Electricity: The spark of life. Our latest exhibition examines how scientists experimented with electricity to understand and control it, and how mass generation and distribution changed our lives.

With stunning commissions from three contemporary artists, as well as iconic objects such as Edison lightbulbs, Electricity: The spark of life is not to be missed.

If you’re visiting with children, pick up a trail and guide yourself through the exhibition with games and challenges. Or visit Spark Space, our activity zone within the gallery.

Reading Week

We were very lucky to speak to speak to Grace Pile – author of ‘The Uniting of The Four’ – during reading week. She spoke to us about becoming an author, what had inspired her and how to plan a good story.

Science

We made circuit diagrams using liqourice allsorts. We tested them using the different components to see whether they worked or not! We then drew them into our books using the correct symbols.
